Roof tiles perform a brilliant job, designed to repel the very harshest of British weather, and making up the largest visible surface area of your property.
The growth of moss and lichen on the tiles, ages your roof and will reduce the value of your home. During winter months, water absorption caused by freezing and thawing increases the weight and stress on the tiles, ultimately shortening the roofs finite life span.
Over the years, concrete roof tiles become porous with erosion and weaken the overall roof structure, often leading to costly repairs or re-roofing.
After a detailed risk assessment, specialist access equipment will be erected on the roof to provide our team with safe access for the duration of the works.
The first stage of the roof coating process is the cleaning of your roof and its tiles. We use high pressure washers fitted with turbo nozzle lances, specially designed for removing all moss, lichen, dirt and pollutants from the roof surface, without causing any damage to the tiles.
Drainage down pipes are covered and gutter end caps removed to prevent the blocking of any drains during the clean. Surrounding areas are covered and the debris washed down from your roof during the cleaning process is then bagged up and taken away by our team. Cleaning is a priority for Aquacoats and our treatments.
The difference between the old tiles and the deep cleaned ones is seen instantly and it is essential that they are as clean as possible for the next stage. The final treatment will then be completely absorbed, evenly into each and every roof tile.
Stage two: When clean, we can properly assess the roof condition. Ridge tiles, hips, bonnet tiles and valleys, are all checked thoroughly to ensure that they are in good shape and firmly affixed. We will replace any broken, cracked or missing tiles where necessary and in the case of a ridge tile which is found to be loose and in need of re-pointing, our skilled team will re-bed/point tiles where necessary and to the highest standard.
The third stage sees the application of the anti-fungicidal wash that ensures your roof will stay moss free for 10+ years.
The fourth and final stage of the process only begins when we are happy with the roof condition after the wash. We go on to apply a unique water resistant and breathable bonding agent to the roof tiles. Working similarly to Gortex, the solution makes your roof completely water proof whilst allowing water vapour to escape and the roof to breathe. This system maintains your roof in the best possible condition.
Right now the coating is available in a choice of 5 classic colours, giving you the opportunity to enhance and restore the original appearance of your home or give it a fresh new look. Two coats are always added for maximum protection, the first being absorbed into the tile and the second working like a jacket and seal. Our treatments are all carbon neutral, environmentally friendly and do not harm the planet!
